Sex Offender Frequenting Rye Public Library

RYE, NY (November 17, 2024) — The City of Rye Police Department is advising the community of Level 2 Sex Offender frequenting the area.

On Wednesday November 13, 2024, The City of Rye Police Department was notified by two teens of a non-criminal encounter with a male black at the Rye Public Library. The male was interviewed by detectives and stated he frequents the Rye Public Library.

The subsequent investigation revealed the party identified as 29 year old Wale Gai is homeless. Wale Gai a 29 year old male, is currently registered as a Level 2 sex offender, indicating a moderate risk of re-offending, according to the New York State Sex Offender Registry.

Offender Details:

  • Wale D. Gai, male black, 5’9” brown eyes and slim build. Gai is
  • selective mute and is known to communicate by showing text messages on his phone.
  • Residence Area: Last known address is 25 Operations Drive, Valhalla, New York 10595
  • Conviction: Rape 3rd date of conviction June 11, 2019
