RYE, NY (December 22, 2024) — On Friday December 20 at approximately 2:30 pm, the Rye Police received a report of a wake boarder in distress on Long Island Sound.
The caller stated that he was wake boarding with his friend when they got separated. The last time he saw his friend he appeared to
be taken by the current towards Larchmont Harbor.
Patrol assets of the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department, the Village of Mamaroneck Harbor Master, the New Rochelle Police Department Harbor Unit and Sea Tow Western were dispatched to shore points to get a visual on the subject in distress.
The Rye Marine Unit responded to the area and located the party on shore at Seven Oaks Lane in the Village of Mamaroneck. Patrol Units and EMS responded to the location and verified the party was in good health.
