PELHAM MANOR, NY (February 25, 2025) — The Village of Pelham Manor Board of Trustees paid tribute to one of its own on Monday, issuing a proclamation to former resident and Pelham Manor High School graduate Felix Cavaliere, celebrating his storied career as a musician and songwriter.
Cavaliere, a classically trained pianist and pioneering organist, rose to fame as the lead vocalist of The Young Rascals, later known simply as The Rascals. The band’s hits, including “Groovin’,” “People Got to Be Free,” “A Beautiful Morning,” and “How Can I Be Sure,” became anthems of the 1960s, cementing his place in music history. With a career spanning six decades, Cavaliere’s contributions have earned him induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Hammond Hall of Fame, and the Musicians Hall of Fame Museum.
Now based in Nashville, Cavaliere continues to write new material and tour actively, delighting audiences with both classic hits and fresh compositions. The proclamation, presented at a recent board meeting, highlighted his achievements and his ties to the Pelham Manor community.
Local radio personality Dennis Nardone accepted the honor on Cavaliere’s behalf, expressing gratitude for the recognition. “Felix’s music has touched so many lives, and it’s wonderful to see his hometown celebrate his legacy,” Nardone said.
Cavaliere’s journey from Pelham Manor to international stardom serves as an inspiration, trustees noted, underscoring the village’s pride in its native son.
