RYE, NY (February 26, 2025) — A 26-year-old Bronx man was arrested Tuesday evening after police in Rye, New York, pulled over a vehicle sporting a stolen license plate, authorities said.
The incident began around 6:42 p.m. on February 25, 2025, when the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center alerted the City of Rye Police Department to a suspicious vehicle heading north on Boston Post Road near High Street. Officers soon spotted the car—a 2005 Honda Civic—displaying the pilfered New York plate and tracked it as it merged onto I-95 southbound.
Police initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Roberto Robles of the Bronx. A quick check revealed more than just a stolen plate: Robles was allegedly driving without a court-ordered interlock system and with a license that landed him in hot water.
Robles now faces a trio of misdemeanor charges, including fifth-degree possession of stolen property, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and operating a motor vehicle without the required interlock device. He was taken into custody without incident, police said.
The 26-year-old is scheduled to answer for his alleged joyride in court on March 11, 2025, at 9 a.m. Authorities have not released additional details about the stolen plate’s origins or Robles’ prior run-ins with the law.
