NEW ROCHELLE, NY (March 4, 2025) — A 17-year-old boy was arrested late Monday night after allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint in New Rochelle, police said, recovering the victim’s stolen belongings and a loaded handgun.

The robbery occurred around 8:37 p.m. on March 3, 2025, near 10 Davenport Ave., according to the New Rochelle Police Department. The victim told officers he was approached by a suspect who struck up a conversation before pulling out a handgun and demanding his cell phone and wallet. The suspect, described as a Black male with dreadlocks and glasses, fled the scene on foot.

Police quickly zeroed in on an apartment at the nearby Harbor House Apartments, where detectives arrested the juvenile suspect without incident. Authorities recovered a .32 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun, along with the victim’s cell phone and wallet, directly tying the teen to the crime, police said.

The suspect, whose name was withheld due to his age, was arraigned virtually and is being held at Woodfield Cottage in Valhalla, New York. He faces charges of first-degree robbery, a Class B felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor, under New York State law.
