NEW ROCHELLE, NY (March 7, 2025) — Capital Prep New Rochelle Charter School welcomes Dr. David Martin as its inaugural principal, a seasoned educator with nearly 30 years of experience driving innovation and equity in education. Martin, who earned his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania, steps into the role with a deep connection to the community, having attended elementary school in New Rochelle.

“I’m proud to serve the place that shaped me,” Martin said. “At Capital Prep, we’ll foster an environment where every student can succeed.”

Before joining Capital Prep, Martin served as principal and headmaster of a private, historically Black, co-educational boarding school — one of only four remaining in the U.S. His career also includes roles as a principal, assistant principal, and consultant, where he helped traditional public and charter schools redesign instructional models and improve student outcomes. Martin’s expertise spans school design, problem-based learning, instructional technology, data-driven decision-making, alternative education, and qualitative/action research.

Outside education, Martin is a professional musician who has released commercial music, toured internationally, and scored feature films. He’s also an author and licensed real estate salesperson, blending creativity and entrepreneurship with his passion for teaching.

“In partnership, I’m excited to grow the next chapter of excellence at Capital Prep,” Martin said.

Joining him is Christina Nourlil, the school’s new director of operations. Nourlil brings eight years of experience from Capital Prep Harbor in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she supported students, families, and staff in building a success-driven environment.

“I’m thrilled to bring my passion for education to New York,” Nourlil said. “My goal is to ensure every scholar has the resources they need to thrive.”

Nourlil invites families to connect. “Please don’t hesitate to reach out,” she said. “I’m eager to collaborate for a fantastic year ahead.”

Together, Martin and Nourlil aim to lead Capital Prep New Rochelle into a future of innovation and achievement.
