Elderly Woman Struck Dead by Car in Tragic Morning Mishap in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (March 18, 2025) — A 73-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle while walking in New Rochelle on Tuesday morning, police said, in a heartbreaking incident that has left the community in mourning.

The accident occurred around 7:54 a.m. at the intersection of Pinebrook Boulevard and Amherst Drive, according to a New Rochelle Police Department press release. Officers arrived to find the elderly pedestrian, who had been walking northbound along Pinebrook Boulevard, gravely injured after being hit by a car traveling in the same direction.

Emergency responders from the New Rochelle Fire Department and ambulance crews rushed to the scene, providing immediate aid before transporting the woman to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

The driver, a 23-year-old woman, remained at the scene and has been fully cooperative with authorities, police said. No criminal charges have been filed as the investigation continues. The identities of both the victim and the driver are being withheld pending notification of family members.
