New Rochelle, NY (March 28, 2025) — Economist and Wall Street veteran Dr. Ed Yardeni returned to his alma mater, New Rochelle High School, on March 13 to address economics students about global investment strategies, asset allocation, and career insights. The 1968 graduate, who holds a PhD in economics from Yale University, shared his expertise with an eager audience of young learners.

Dr. Yardeni, now President of Yardeni Research, Inc., boasts a storied career that includes a stint as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He is a regular contributor to prominent outlets like The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, and Bloomberg News.
Senior Noah Arthungal moderated the event and praised the opportunity. “It was an amazing opportunity to interact with one of the foremost stock prognosticators and economists,” Arthungal said. “His insights into stock analysis and the economy were invaluable, but what I appreciated most was that he showed us potential career paths in the workforce.”
Fellow senior Caroline Bach found new inspiration from the talk. “After listening to Dr. Yardeni, I’ve become more interested in economics and its connections to social and political issues,” she said.
Dr. Yardeni’s take on American consumer behavior struck a chord with senior Sneyder Badillo Ramirez. “He made the concept of consumerism easier to understand,” Ramirez said. “He said, ‘When Americans are happy, they spend money, and when they are depressed, they spend even more.’ This really helped me grasp the idea of how consumerism works in our culture.”
Social Studies teacher Darren Gurney, who coordinated the visit, emphasized its impact. “It was thrilling for our economics students to meet an economics legend and NRHS alumnus,” Gurney said. “His willingness to visit and share such insightful perspectives on politics and the economy reinforced the concepts we discuss daily in the classroom.”
