NEW YORK, NY (April 1, 2025) — Con Edison customers tapped into $321 million in incentives in 2024 to cut costs on energy efficiency and building electrification upgrades, with $80 million aiding low- and moderate-income households, the utility announced. These efforts saved customers over $65 million annually on energy bills.

In 2024, 54,000 solar customers zeroed out at least one electric bill, doubling solar generation capacity since 2020 and battery storage capacity since 2023. More than 338,000 participants in energy efficiency programs secured $161 million in incentives, trimming electric and gas costs.
“Con Edison customers continue to transition to clean energy in greater numbers,” said Vicki Kuo, senior vice president for Con Edison Customer Energy Solutions. “We’re working closely with our customers to help them make informed decisions to conserve energy and save money.”
The Energy Affordability Program provided $311 million in discounts in 2024, up 80 percent since 2022, while the EnergyShare program distributed over $500,000 in grants to more than 2,700 families, funded by $1 customer donations matched by Con Edison. Since 2000, the program has delivered over $4 million, helping more than 26,000 families.

Customers added 100 megawatts of solar capacity and 44 megawatts of battery storage in 2024, pushing total solar capacity to 679 megawatts across 75,200 installations. Westchester and Queens led solar production, while Westchester customers installed 676 of 746 battery storage projects, storing 28 megawatts.

Con Edison’s PowerReady program supported over 11,000 Level 2 electric vehicle chargers, with 4,163 in disadvantaged communities, and 527 fast-charging plugs. The Clean Heat program saw nearly 14,000 heat pumps installed, backed by $160 million in incentives, with applications surging 142 percent from 2023.
In November, Con Edison won the National ReliabilityOne® Award from PA Consulting for the nation’s most reliable electric service. Its Reliable Clean City projects in Queens, Staten Island, and Brooklyn, set to add 900 megawatts of capacity, remain on schedule. The company also replaced 78 miles of leak-prone pipe to cut emissions.
