MAMARONECK, NY (April 20, 2025) — A 43-year-old fugitive wanted in two states was arrested in Mamaroneck on Friday after a routine traffic stop uncovered his revoked driving privileges and outstanding warrants, police said.

Officer Reyes spotted a vehicle with an improper license plate frame stopped in the roadway near 46 Madison Street around 1:20 p.m. on April 18. A DMV inquiry identified the driver as Christopher Arroyo, a Mamaroneck resident, whose New York State driving privileges were revoked. The inquiry also revealed Arroyo was wanted in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Carol Stream, Illinois, for burglary in the first degree and assault with a weapon, with fully extraditable warrants.

The vehicle fled before officers could stop it, prompting a brief search of the area. Using advanced law enforcement technology, officers tracked the vehicle as it returned to the Village of Mamaroneck on Boston Post Road. Police located the vehicle exiting a McDonald’s parking lot and conducted a traffic stop, confirming Arroyo as the driver. He was taken into custody without incident.

Arroyo was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and transported to Police Headquarters. Las Vegas and Chicago police departments confirmed they would file extradition charges. A fugitive of justice warrant was filed with the court, and Arroyo was arraigned in Village Court before being remanded to the Westchester County Department of Corrections.

“Alert and acute observation skills, along with utilizing 21st-century modern-day policing software, allowed Officer Reyes and his fellow officers to bring this fugitive to justice,” Mamaroneck police said in a statement.
