NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 22, 2025) — The City of New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department and Volunteer New York! will host the 9th annual Parks Cleanup Weekend on April 26 and 27, coinciding with Global Volunteer Month and Earth Day. The initiative will span 13 parks, including a newly added site at Seacord Park, to prepare green spaces for summer.
Volunteers of all ages will focus on litter removal, trail and beach cleanup, and spring beautification across New Rochelle. Key events include a cleanup at Five Islands Park on April 26 at 10 a.m. and another at Ward Acres on April 27 at 10 a.m. Seacord Park will host a session on April 27 from 10 a.m. to noon.
“Our upcoming Earth Month cleanup weekend is a great opportunity for the community to come together and help prepare over a dozen sites for the influx of visitors during warmer months,” said Parks and Recreation Commissioner Vin Parise. “Our parks and natural areas are vital for recreation, relaxation and enjoyment and enhance the vibrancy of our City.”
The event, open to all community members, encourages group registrations. Volunteers aged 5 to 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Interested participants can register at volunteernewyork.org/newrochelle or call 914-948-4452 for details.
