NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 24, 2025) — An unoccupied car rolled from a driveway, crossed Pinebrook Boulevard, and sank into Beechmont Lake last night, prompting a swift response from local authorities.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. Eastern DST on April 23, 2025. No injuries were reported, as the vehicle was unoccupied at the time.
According to officials, the car traveled from a driveway on the opposite side of Pinebrook Boulevard before entering the lake. A tow company successfully removed the vehicle from the water. To contain potential fluid leaks, the New Rochelle Fire Department deployed a boom chain, described as a buoy-like barrier, around the car near the shore.
Cleanup efforts continued this morning, with absorbent pads used to remove fluids floating on the lake’s surface, as these substances are lighter than water.
Authorities have not released further details about the cause of the incident or the vehicle’s owner. For now, officials are urging residents to stay clear of the area as cleanup operations conclude.
