NEW ROCHELLE, NY (February 14, 2026) — The City School District of New Rochelle is offering free take-home meals to students observing Ramadan this year.

The grab-and-go breakfast and lunch options will be available from Feb. 23 through March 19 for students who are fasting during the school day. The program is possible thanks to a waiver from the State Department of Education and the district’s current Community Eligibility Provision status, which allows the meals to be provided at no cost.

Families must opt in by completing the Meal Request Form no later than Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Breakfast choices include bagels, muffins or cereal, each served with fruit and milk. Lunch options include sunbutter and jelly sandwiches, bagel meals or muffin meals, each served with carrots, fruit and milk.

The district emphasized that the take-home meals are intended to replace food normally served during the school day. Students who eat in the cafeteria and also take a meal home will be charged for the additional meal.
