NEW ROCHELLE, NY (February 17, 2026) — New Rochelle Opera has announced principal casting for its concert version of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Nabucco,” scheduled for May 15 and May 17, 2026, at The Ursuline School in New Rochelle.

The performances will take place Friday, May 15, 2026, and Sunday, May 17, 2026, at The Ursuline School.

Under the baton of Maestro Jason Tramm, artistic and general director of New Rochelle Opera, the production will feature:

Jason Detwiler as Nabucco (Tulsa Opera and Opera Idaho) Christina Major as Abigaille (Teatro Colón and Opera Tampa) Jeremy Brauner as Ismaele (Sarasota Opera and Cedar Rapids Opera) Brandon Coleman as Zaccaria (Metropolitan Opera and Sarasota Opera) Michelle Detwiler as Fenena (Opera Idaho and Opera Modesto)

Premiered in 1842 at La Scala, “Nabucco” marked Verdi’s first great triumph and remains one of the composer’s most recognized works. The opera is known for the chorus “Va, pensiero” and tells a story of exile, faith, redemption and liberation.

Presented in concert format, the performance will focus on orchestra, chorus and soloists.

“Nabucco is more than an opera—it is a testament to the enduring power of faith, resilience, and the human spirit,” Tramm said. “Verdi’s music reminds us that even in moments of exile and uncertainty, hope can rise in breathtaking harmony. We are thrilled to bring this extraordinary work to New Rochelle with such a dynamic cast and chorus.”
