HAWTHORNE, NY (February 28, 2026) — The Westchester County Department of Public Safety said it is monitoring events occurring in Iran and working with federal partners to assess any related intelligence.

In a statement posted on westchestergov.com, the department said it is “monitoring the events occurring in Iran and working in collaboration with federal law enforcement partners to receive and share any intelligence information associated with this event.”

Investigators assigned to the Real Time Crime Center will share information immediately with municipal agencies in Westchester County and the surrounding region regarding any potential threats to Westchester or the Hudson Valley, according to the statement.

The department also reminded residents that County Police and local law enforcement partners were already conducting increased patrols around houses of worship due to current and upcoming significant religious holidays and observances.

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL

Following the U.S. military operations in Iran overnight, we are taking precautionary steps to protect New Yorkers. State Police are increasing their presence at religious, diplomatic, and cultural sites statewide in coordination with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. Additionally, in advance of the Jewish holiday of Purim, State Police remain alert and have already begun outreach to religious organizations to offer support.

While there have been no specific, credible threats to New York identified, we continue to monitor online activity for any potential threats, and we encourage New Yorkers to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
