Ice Rink

Given the recent announcement that New Roc City will undergo extensive renovation to allow Target and Kohl’s to become new tenants, the ice rink will probably cease operations later this year. As a result, there is a desperate need for a new facility to provide this valuable recreational and athletic opportunity for our community. As a member of the ice rink committee in the over a decade ago, I was instrumental in the establishment of the ice rink in New Roc City. I am also committed to finding a suitable location for the placement of an ice rink in New Rochelle to assure that our youth will be able to enjoy the important recreational and athletic opportunities that such a facility will provide. I am optimistic that working together, we can be sure that there will be no undue disruption of our youth and school programs. North Avenue and Train Station Traffic Congestion Since I joined the City Council, I have received many complaints about the congestion our residents face when they travel to the train station each morning. The City staff has proposed a limitation on parking on North Avenue near the station as a first step towards alleviating this problem. I strongly believe that a smooth morning commute is a quality of life issue, and am hopeful that this problem will be addressed and the trip to downtown New Rochelle will not present the obstacle that travelers have historically faced for years. My fellow residents should not have to face daily traffic congestion during the regular morning commute. I will continue to be a strong advocate for streamlining North Avenue traffic.
