The New Revised Position Description.

This is what the School Community Facilitator Position posting looks like know. A move we believe is a transparent attempt to give the District political cover for the criticism coming from this blog. Rather than to actually deal with the issues, rather than to acknowledge the issues, they deny the issues then turn around and attempt to quietly hire someone to fill a position to create the appearance of dealing with the issue.

Is it not the job of every administrator and teacher in the District to be a School Community Facilitator? If the City School District worked effectively with the families in our community, there would be no necessity to spend another $68,000 a year on yet another layer of waste. When other neighboring districts in Westchester are making cuts due to difficult economic times, our district is expanding its bureaucracy. The fact that the District cannot make up its mind about posting the position, certainly does not build upon our confidence in them. It merely supports our assertions that there are serious problems with the way they do business. The City School District would save a lot of money if they just stop ignoring its parents, stakeholders and taxpayer. The New Rochelle Community would do a lot better if they start paying attention to some of this stuff.

  1. district school ratings
As I suspected, Mr Organisciak is incorrect when he states that all New Rochelle Schools have been rated as “high performing by the State. Mr. Ira Schwartz, the State Education Department’s Coordinator for Accountabiity, Policy, and Administration says that only 7 of our schools have been rated as such. 1 school plus the district itself have been designated as “recognized” and the remainder as “rapidly improving”. This is not bad news in itself; the troubling aspect is the misdesignation of all 19 schools as “high performing.”

You can check criteria for yourselves by examining the Commissioners Regulations specifically Section 100.2(p) and look at all schools on the “high performing” list by accessing http:/www.emsc.nysed.gov/irts/school-accountability/2006-07/HighPerformingList.htm.

Frankly, it is difficult for me to understand a district head not being fully aware of all this and reporting in a glib fashion a response to serious queries raised by concerned parents and those who have the city’s best interest in heart — especially when that response is wrong. I think Mr. Organisciuk likely got bad information from his staff and I don’t think he consciously mislead anyone. Maybe he will use this as a wake-up call to sharpen up his direct reports under the new reorganization
