YONKERS- In the face of New York State’s $15 billion budget gap, Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), joined by Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-Yonkers), and the Director of the NYS Lottery, will propose the expansion of gaming options at the New York State’s existing video lottery terminals (VLTs) and electronic gaming tables as a way to generate a projected $145 million in education funding. There are currently more than 13,000 VLTs at horse racing tracks across the state.
*NOTE: LIVE demonstrations of the new casino-style games and other b-roll will be available at Yonkers Raceway ALL DAY. This is the FIRST time that such games have ever been allowed to enter New York State. Media Outlets will be given exclusive coverage on Thursday only.
