The course will answer the question “what is a blog?”, provide some background on the development of blogging as a type of new media, and give instruction on how to set up a blog and write your first blog post. Familiarity with computers and the Internet is a prerequisite for this class.

  1. free education for outsiders
free education for outsiders funded by you, the tax payer!
Channel 12 news reported just yesterday that Mt Vernon found 800 kids who were nonresidents attending its school system. These kids were mostly from the Bronx. It cost Mt Vernon over 8 million dollars!Yonkers also found 3 dozen non residents in its schools and cost Yonkers $400,000. I am sure it is the same in New Rochelle.

  2. bob i am going to urge you
bob i am going to urge you to use your bully pulpit to develop a story blog around the may 8 report in sound report regarding the may 5 school budget presentation. i would do so but i am oversubscribed i think in responses and not taken as seriously as you on issues.

first and least important is this irritant of spending so much time on pta support presentations all of which have the non-surprising result of supporting the district. this takes a lot of time and focus away from people who have legitimate claims or queries on the taxes and trustee elections. it is a cheap trick and has driven a lot of people away who have to work the following day.

much, much worse is the question of enrollment that you smartly brought up a week or so back. you need to produce a headline article on the topic pointing out the veniality, stupidity and non-responsiveness of the district responses. these fat bureaucrats have hit a new low in “let them eat cake” as demonstrated by

    1. Organisciak, who else, who mutters some unchallenged nonsense about having attendance monitors on buses from Yonkers and Mt. Vernon who found nothing. Duh, why would kids from those areas be on buses in the first place?

    2. Lacher who must practice law in Lower Slobbovia. Jeez, he actually said that new roc center often has school buses from outside the district and, by inference I guess, this means no kids go to our schools from outside the district.

    3. Watkins must have been at her head in the sand best. she actually said, “bring something to our attention and we will look into it.”

Bob, Dr. Wagner said in so many words that this was not the job of a citizen and it was district responsbility to verify or refute. He mentioned contacting Mt Vernon for information on their process.

Maleftano had enough sense to mention that he made some personal observation and they probably deserve further investigation.

Bob this is very simple! the city administration, city council and of course, the school district owe it to the taxpayer who supports the district to the tune of about 75% of their budget to undertake a formal study. However, I would not trust people with such a lack of transparent integrity. We need someone beyond approach like a Peggy Godfrey to head up a study assisted by perhaps college students in school of education or business — fat cats should be charged with turning over residency records of all students in district for compilation. student’s relationship to resident owner or tenant needs to be established and a signature obtain indicating incorrect information is punishable by law. Copy of the process and results should be sent to Meryl Tisch in Albany perhaps Janet De Fiore can be copied if there is any evidence of fraud.

Bob this is my view and do with it what you will.

by the way, interesting to read the first few lines of a blog congratulating issac young kids for topping peekskill, mt vernon, elmsford, and yonkers kids. what low hurdles — what about white plains, mamaroneck, bronxville, scarsdale, rye, etc. etc.

    1. I do not agree about people
I do not agree about people willing to consider your views. Most people seem to respect what you have to say and I am sure would prefer to hear from you directly in this case.

I would much prefer that you copy and paste this into your own blog post which others can than comment on. What I would suggest is that you edit what you have written above and maybe add in a few excerpted quotes from the article you are referring to above.

To add your own blog post just login — as you did to comment above — and the scroll down the right side of the web page.

You will see a section called “Your Admin Menu”.

Below that you will see a menu that looks something like this one:

      Create content
      My account
      My blog
      Freelinks
      Recent posts
      News aggregator
      Administer
      Log out

From that list select “My Blog”.

You will see something like this:

      misterg’s blog
      Post new blog entry

Click on “Post new blog entry” and you will a field that looks pretty much like the field you used to comment. Just add a title and then edit what you wrote about into its own article.

Once you do press “submit” the article will appear in the upper right corner of the home page. I sometimes promote articles from there to the left side of the home page and I would do that in this case.

What I wrote here applies to any reader — if you want to write a blog on this site and/or become a contributor just register for the site and follow the instructions above.

      One final note…

If you ARE going to write you are doing to want to be read. Readers have a lot of to choose from when they are skimming the site so take a few moment to write a GOOD headline. Writing a good headline for your article is critical if you want people to hear what you have to say so please take 2 minutes and read the note linked below on this topic:
