New Rochelle High School’s House 4 telephones have been out of operation since Friday, June 12. A very upset parent spoke with me today about he and his wifes frustration concerning the counseling their daughter has been receiving while attending the 11th grade.
“They (counselor)say they’re gonna call you back, and they never do. Since last week, we have been waiting for my daughters counselor to call us back after being told we had to wait for a team meeting. As of Friday I started calling the school..no answer. I called the main number and was told the phones were out of order and I should email the counselor. I emailed…no response. My wife called repeatedly today, no answer. It’s just so frustrating. The no return of phone calls has been going on all year.”
“I have had numerous meetings throughout the year in house 4 and it is like a zoo in there. At one point, I had the pleasure of listening to a cat fight between the two woman that work behind the desk, while one other councelor stood there dunking her bagel into her coffee. Totally unprofessional. My daughters counselor disappeared sometime in May and not until my third or forth phone call to house 4 offices was I told she was out on maternity leave. I was never notified on who the replacement was”.
It was pretty apparent that this gentleman was indeed frustrated. His daughter is going to require additional support in order to have enough credits to graduate in 2011. Timing is of the essence here because the programs that are needed for their daughter are filling up quickly. I made a few phone calls myself to House 4 and just got a ringing line. How long should it take to repair this situation? How many other parents are as frustrated and are looking for answers with only one full week of school left?

The catfights you are referring are between square shaped judy petrone whose boobs are hanging out all over the place and Sharon Davenport..happens all the time…you’re right very unprofessional!

my child is in house 4 and has told me stories about Ms Petrone who he says seems to be too busy goofing off with security and chatting with students. I myself have never had any dealings with her but have had the opportunity of speaking with Sharon who was always helpful and nice.
Call Jeff Hastie – if HE’S not an isolated incident by now
Why don’t we post the counselor’s name. Maybe somebody out here knows who took over their caseload. Then we can call Jeff -I can solve all the problems- Hastie and he can ask Polow what his answer should be. This is pathetic not just the situation, but the fact that this is typical in this system. Polow, Hastie,Petrone, Lacher, Organisiak, Deutch, what about it ? It’ all about the kids – you said it- not me. Do you have a clue about what’s happening on YOUR watch? Every effin’ week there’s a story that underscores your inability to grasp reality. ISOLATED ? Do you mean isolated to 1 per week? SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on you. Every district has problems, but your incompetence and inability to manage these problems is pitiful. What about the kids- if you kissed the kids asses as much as you kiss the asses of the tiny clatch of voters that you’ve brain washed this district would be a star. And that would be by any criteria, not just the ones you select. NEWSWEEK is calling- they have some questions.

Here’s your chance Jeff. Step up and make a difference. You CAN get to the bottom of this. Your chance to break free from the mold is here and you can shine beyond the mediocrity that surrounds. I am for you, as there is no hope elsewhere. Prove the critics wrong, speak the truth and shame the devil, remember, they can not unvote you. Rise above it before they pull you down with the undertow of self interest.
Don’t Fire Mrs Taylor
Through the grape vine I was told that Mrs. Taylor would not be coming back to House 4 as a Guidance Counselor. I am extremely upset. She is Professional. Whenever I call her she always returns calls and emails expeditiously. She loves the Students and works hard in their regard. She is getting a BAD DEAL. As parents and students we need to make it know to the administration. They can not replace her with another incompetent counselor.It should be the fault of the Administration in House 4 to make proper notification to Parents if a counselor is out of the office on Maternity Leave. Put the blame where necessary. I can not stand for this to happen to an excellent counselor while those lacking remain and receive TENURE. Perhaps that is the plan, keep the lousy counselors, so that our children do not GRADUATE. Help me save Mrs. Taylor job write a Letter to Mr. Kenny the head Guidance and Counseling
