Our Corrupt Mayor

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

On December 13th, Mayor Noam Bramson will orchestrate a fund-raiser so that he can get elected mayor again next year.
This Mayor has marginalized this community since he was elected; since he was appointed. He is, by all indications, the most corrupt mayor in the history of New Rochelle. He has disenfranchised the working class by empowering developers to displace them at all cost, particularly by lining his pockets with money. He has no interest in moving any closer to uniting the diverse community in New Rochelle; His lip service to diversity issues and carefully created soundbites are beyond annoying, they’re lies. His current ride as Mayor is simply a path to higher office. Through his corrupt ways, he will get there at our expense leaving a trail of incomplete projects and a debt that all of us will have to pay for years to come. His dictatorial management style bemoans his public persona of being joyful and medicated. He is a janus personified. So on Dec 13th, instead of sending him a check, send him something else. Pay him a visit at his function. Give him a piece of your mind. Ask him hard questions publicly at the City Council Meetings. Remember your City taxes will be going up by at least 10% – 10% – 10%. Is that ok with you?

  1. Corruption is hard to prove , incompetence is obvious
Back in July there was a copy of an invitation to Noam’s birthday/ fundraiser party . http://www.newrochelletalk.com/node/860 has an interesting comment about us po folks showing up with our tax bills in our hands and do some of our own fundraising . Do you think they would help us out ? Funny to see the inbred love affair between the North End and their little love child . Like a scene out of “Deliverence” . You’re on the money “left of left out” (can I call you Left ? ) about the taxes . We will have 9% now , 700.00 for the sewer (another battle lost because no one defended us ) , in May wait till you see what Mr O and the school board wants to ram up our , well , you get the idea . We get 2 tax hikes each year . Does anyone remember the screwing we got from the library fiasco ? This all happens because not enough of us get involved . It’s that simple . Things are tough all over , how about the city admin and school board “suck it up ” for a change . We’ve spent the last year figuring out how to get by with less . Maybe it’s their turn to learn that lesson . Let them make the kind of cuts we’ve been making all year . They’ll get used to it just like we did .

  2. Maybe not the correct choice
Maybe not the correct choice of words but certainly there is much to gripe about the position New Rochelle is in due to his actions.
I believe he can be defeated in Next years election but it won’t be easy because Jack the Ripper would get elected running on the Democratic line up North…
It should be noted that Brown did not do too badly and with the last 4 years of his abysmal ruination of the Queen City it could be achieved.
The Republican Party will have to work hard finding the right opponent as the North will vote without opening their eyes. Now if you have hard facts about this coruption you speak of I suggest you let fly.
This guy is a lot of things mostly smart as a fox with some good backing and a very loyal afinity voting block. None of the 3 repubs on the City Council could shine his shoes and get elected. They have yet to learn to count. If you don’t believe this watch Council meetings and see Rich St. Paul test the 4-3 vote day after day.
We can always hope Nita steps down and the Boy Wonder moves into her seat and we get Fertel who is easily defeated just on hubris alone. However we certainly would love to hear the littany of Coruption but I venture to say its politics as usual driving his bus.

  3. easy to say, hard to prove
It is easy to say the Mayor is “corrupt” but another to actually prove that to be the case. Without any evidence, this sort of claim comes across as the easily dismissed rant of a disgruntled voter.

If you or anyone has some evidence to support this claim take the time to gather records and publish them here (or anywhere else) and explain what about the records shows corruption.

There is no law against accepting campaign donations from real estate brokers and property developers unless there is some demonstrated quid pro quo or the amounts involved exceed some limits or they are not accurately reported. If any of those things happened the community should know that but to simply shout “corruption” at the Mayor has no impact beyond preaching to the choir.
