DPW Commissioner Jeff Coleman uploaded the Department of Public Works booklet online. The booklet contains detailed information on the services provided by the Department of Public Works.
More than just collecting the trash, the Department provides a wide range of services to both the individual resident and the City at large. Stormwater management, recycling, engineering, traffic engi- neering, maintenance of public buildings, sewer and drain maintenance and snow/ice control are a few of the activities in which the Department engages.
Please note that in 2010 the weeks containing Veterans Day and Election Day will be normal refuse collection weeks. This change was put in effect last year after the publishing of our information booklet and hopefully will improve recycling rates during weeks that are traditionally below normal. Although capital improvement projects are curtailed this year due to budget constraints, the Department anticipates construction of the next phase of the North Avenue project. Extending south
on North Avenue from the recently completed section that ends at Rochelle Place, this federally funded project will improve street, sidewalk and landscaping conditions around the intersection of North Avenue and The Boulevard.
