Frank McKiernan – Longtime New Rochelle Resident and Owner of McKiernan ‘s Bar. Frank McKiernan died Saturday, February 27, 2010 in Co. Cavan Ireland after a short illness. Born the youngest of nine children September 15, 1934 in Co. Cavan, Ireland to Bernard and Katie McKiernan. Mr. McKiernan left Ireland for Canada at the age of 18 and later traveled to NY and opened McKiernan’s Bar in 1962. He maintained his bar business in New Rochelle until he retired in 1997.
He married Kathleen (nee Reilly) also of Co. Cavan, Ireland in Sept 1962. After his retirement, Mr. McKiernan bought a home in Ireland and he and his wife enjoyed splitting their time in both homes. In addition to his devoted wife of 47 years, Mr. McKiernan is survived by his seven children including: five sons, Frank McKiernan and his wife Linda of Poughquag, NY, Brian of West Nyack, NY, Terrence and his wife Michelle of New Rochelle, Sean and his wife Jennifer of New Windsor, NY, Paul of New Rochelle; and two daughters Jackie and her husband Jimmy Galligan of Co. Cavan, Ireland, and Deirdre and her husband Chris Blohm of Patterson, NY. He will be deeply missed by his 10 grandchildren: James, Thomas and Jennifer Galligan; Frank and Brianna McKiernan; Jillian Castrellon; Shea Rose McKiernan; Kevin, Katie and Kim McKiernan.
Frank is survived by three sisters: Philomena Rogers of Ireland, Peggy MacDonnell of England and Noreen Barnicle of Mamaroneck, NY. He is predeceased by his parents and five siblings: Francis, Mary, Joseph, Barney and Terrence.

Funeral Mass Saturday 9:30am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 75 Petersville Rd, New Rochelle. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.

Mr.McKiernan bar after 1997 was taken over by his son until 2006 and now is called Sky Box.’
Mr McKiernan was well known in New Rochelle for his kindness and for a great pint. God bless to he and his family.
