Mayor.gifMessage from Mayor Bramson on Power Outages:

This is Mayor Noam Bramson, with an update on emergency storm conditions.

First, to help preserve refrigerated items, Con Edison will have wet ice available for the public from 2:00pm to 6:00pm this afternoon at the City Hall parking area at 515 North Avenue.

Second, for your safety, you are reminded to avoid downed wires and assume that all wires are live.

Now for general information:

Con Edison has approximately 100 repair crews currently at work in the region, ramping up to 300 crews as mutual aid arrives from the mid-west and south. Repair is being prioritized based on safety hazards and number of households affected.

As of this morning, there are approximately 70,000 households without power in Westchester, with the worst outages concentrated in the southeastern region, including New Rochelle.

While it is possible that some locations may be restored quickly, complete restoration of power will take several days. We advise you to make contingency plans for lodging with friends or family, should that prove necessary.

Weather conditions are still poor and additional outages may occur.

Finally, in the case of threats to life or safety, you are reminded to call 911. To report a power outage, please call Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED. And for other inquiries, please call the New Rochelle Emergency Operations Center at 654-2212.

More information will be provided as warranted.

Thank you.
