On Saturday April 10, beginning at 8 pm, ArtsWestchester will host Wali Ali and The Tambourine Band in an evening entitled Coffee House
The Tambourine Band is made up of Wali Ali along with longtime friends David Merril and Steve Brown, all of whom grew up in New Rochelle together. David Merrill plays the bass in the group, and Steve Brown, a teaching assistant at New Rochelle High School, plays drums. As with all concerts of the New Urban Jazz Series, admission includes a complimentary wine and cheese buffet courtesy of Cascade Mountain Winery.
The event is part of ArtsWestchester’s New Urban Jazz series and will take place at The Arts Exchange, at 31 Mamaroneck Avenue in the heart of downtown White Plains. Tickets are $20 General Admission advance, $25 on the day of the show, with a $5 discount for Students, Seniors, and ArtsWestchester Members. Each ticket holder receives two FREE beverages with entry: wine for adults, sodas and bottled water for underage or non-alcohol drinkers.
You can view a video of Wali Ali playing the unusual “bi-axe” instrument.
