Well, OK. Not really. But imagine all the space that could be saved if cars had their wheels, bumpers and other “extraneous” parts removed before storing them in municipal lots. New Rochelle police we on the scene this morning, as Blessed Sacrament parishioners came and went form Sunday mass. Several cars in the “Bloomingdales lot” (Prospect Street Lot) were “retro-fitted” to meet the new BID parking specifications.

IronyWatch: At the BID meeting last week, Chuck Strome talked about how the owners of the Bloomingdales Building agreed to contribute $5,000 to $6,000 towards the purchase of security cameras.

  1. Any person older than 30
Any person older than 30 will remember a time when every vehicle had the “NO RADIO” sign plastered inside their vehicle to try and convince vandals to move onto another car to try and pick up a few dollars. There have been some pretty ugly times in the past now I guess when you head home for the night you will have to jack up all 4 tires and roll them into your home.
It sort of obvious that if theives can do this out in the open that the Police have coverage issues.
    Its pretty bold.
Has this been going on all along or are we now back in the 80’s in terms of crime? Between North End buglary and tire theft I think the Commisioner needs to start giving some answers to the residents more so some results.

  2. Parking
I just read another article about 7 cars getting there tires slashed in the libary lot and at 215 north ave and on Lawton st. Something is wrong and the BID and CITY want to charge us for 24/7 parking . Give us security first.

  3. Security Cameras are Needed
It is apparent to the owner of this vehicle and anyone else who parks in this lot that security cameras are needed. We know how much attention is given to this area already by our city services and the police can’t be everywhere all the time. I think cameras are a good suggestion.

    1. cameras
I don’t think this area is on the list for cameras?according to the journal news article in todays paper the nearest one would be 40 division st which i think is the church division garage.and its a shame that no one reported this the owner came out to find his car this way after 10;00am.I guess this lot lot is not used as much as the BID and the city say it is

  4. prospect street lot
great security and now the residents are going to pay for what.By the way this was a monthley parker who lives in the dav port lofts building.Get ready for 24/7 parking and get nothing for it.
