The City will hold a public hearing on the GREENR draft sustainability plan for New Rochelle on Tuesday, May 11 @ 7:30 pm in the Main Council Chamber at New Rochelle City Hall, 515 North Avenue. Come to listen or to speak. All speakers will be allotted three minutes, although longer comments can be submitted in writing.
Mayor Bramson is pitching the GREENR document as “an important first step to outline practical measures that will address environmental issues, quality of life, energy efficiency, etc. in our community.” The intent of the plan is to drive decision-making at all levels of government for the next 20 years by putting every decision through the filter of the Green R Plan. It is a very big deal with far-reaching consequence. The Mayor says there are “no costs” contained in the plan.
If this initiative is to be approved by the City Council, it needs to hear from our community. The Green R Plan is here. You can watch the video of the pitch to City Council here.
