MemorialDay2009 - 11.jpgEach year it gets better and better and this year New Rochelle has once again outdone itself in preparing for what has certainly become Westchester County’s most ambitious, wide-ranging jam-packed Memorial Day commemoration with an emotional, patriotic remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service, a parade with bands, floats and representatives of all of the Armed Forces. It is full-day schedule of events that is sure to attract a large number of residents and draw additional thousands to New Rochelle making the Memorial Day parade perhaps making it the single largest annual event in New Rochelle.

Memorial Day Parade Route

Parade starts at Memorial Plaza, near Mo’s Grill. The parade moves West on Memorial Highway, turned right onto Huguenot Street, then right onto North Avenue, continuing South on North Avenue until the parade reaches the American Legion Post 8 where the parade will rest briefly before proceeding down North Avenue, making a left onto Shore Road and then bearing right towards Hudson Park.

6:30 AM Fleet Week Pickup
7:00 AM Set up at Hudson Park Begins
8:00 AM American Legion Breakfast Served
9:00 AM Memorial Highway Closed to Traffic
9:30 AM Depart from American Legion for Memorial Plaza
9:30 AM Sound Check for Bands
9:30 AM Set up at Memorial Plaza Begins
9:30 AM Assembly Begins
10:30 AM Ceremony Begins
11:00 AM Parade Kick-off
11:00 AM to past noon Parade proceeds from Memorial Plaza to Hudson Park (down North Avenue to Shore Road)
12:00 PM Parade Enters Park
12:15 PM Food Service Begins
1:00 PM Lost at Sea Ceremony
1:30 PM USO Liberty Bells Perform at Bandshell
2:00 PM Marine Helicopter lands
2:30 PM A to Z Band Performs at Bandshell
