Paine to Pain Trail Race: Registration Well Ahead of Last Year

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

The Paine to Pain 1/2 Marathon Trail Race — starting at the Thomas Paine Cottage and ending at New Rochelle High School — is registering participants at double the pace of last year.

The annual event uses a new trail system that takes runners up through Mamaroneck along the Leatherstocking Trail, winds its way through Saxon Woods and comes back down along the Hutchinson River Trail, Twin Lakes and Nature Study Woods. A detailed map of the race track can be found at the web site.

The race, in just its third year, has been registering runners at a pace that should easily eclipse the 191 runners that crossed the finish line in 2009. Participants came in from throughout the New York metropolitan area for the event.

This year’s race will be run October 3rd, starting with a gunshot from a colonial musket at 9 am.

Reviews from last year’s race can be found at the Paine to Pain blog.

A a full description of the event, as well as sponsorship opportunities, can also be found at the race’s website along with registration information.

This is the longest trail race in Westchester County, and a unique event in the metropolitan area due to the nature of the course, as it winds its way through so many different communities in the Sound Shore area.
