Danny Grosso, “Mr. Boys Club” dies at the age of 95

Danny Grosso better known as Mr. Boys Club or “the Pope” to family and close friends passed away at the age of 95. Danny was a retired railroad worker who devoted his energies to raising his family, supporting St. Joseph’s Church and was a tireless fixture at the Feeney Park Boys Club. Danny is one of dying breed of volunteers who dedicate their lives to helping our youth long after their children matured. My fondest memory of Danny is as emcee of the annual Feeney Park Roller Skating Shows; Dan was always decked out in his plaid jacket, burgundy trousers and white shoes. Dan would always open the show with a; why did the chicken………. joke. As a team Dan and his wife, Grace, raised two boys, Dan Jr. and Dom Grosso, in the west end of New Rochelle. In this age of townies and heroes Dan stands heads above as the quintessential quiet volunteer who never got involved in the petty politics but rather took action to solve problems and serve as a role model for all who knew him. To say Danny will be sorely missed is a gross understatement.

Arrangements are being handled by Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc., 16 Shea Pl., New Rochelle, NY 10801. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

God bless Danny and the Grosso family!
