Join the family of friends and neighbors as we pay tribute to those lost, and the sacrifices made, in the aftermath of the tragic attack on our Nation.

This Saturday, September 11th, a Memorial Service will be held on the front lawn of the New Rochelle Armory. The event will begin at 7:30.

Joining in the service will be the Color Guard and members of the United States Armed Forces, Police and Fire units from both New Rochelle and New York City, and many more. A true testament to just how many lives were affected.

The event is sponsored by the United Veterans Memorial and Patriotic Association in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity of Westchester.

Driving directions, a schedule of events, and more information can be found HERE

Take pause to remember those who have lost so much, and show your support for the men and women who continue to serve this Nation 9 years after.

  1. What does the armory have to
What does the armory have to do with the remembrance of 9/11?

What a cheap political trick to take advantage of the memory of those who were murdered nine years ago. If you don’t know what I mean, then you only need look at all the other cheap attempts to politicize the memory of 9/11 that will be shown on cable tv. 9/11 is not an event to be politicized. Holding this event at the armory is not necessary and a cheap ploy.

    1. Get a Life Roberta
Get a life Roberta. The only thing cheap seems to be you. It seems all your comments on Talk of the Sound blog are contrary and negative. You must be a New Rochelle City Hall mole. If you really wanted to know the connection between the Armory Building and 9/11 you would have read the building’s history during the 9/11 tragedy instead of taking cheap swipes. Or better yet ask the New Rochelle Firefighters and other 9/11 volunteers, the Salvation Army volunteers, the Habitat for Humanity volunteers, they will tell you how the New Rochelle Armory serviced Ground Zero as a support facility. And better still, why not come out and join your many neighbors and attend the 9/11 Memorial and Candlelight Vigil this Saturday at 7:30 pm and see how non-political the ceremony really is. Get off your couch, close off your cable tv and join real people. It might do you some good.

      1. Thank you for the response.
Thank you for the response. I didn’t know that about the armory.

I’ll rollerblade on by. See you there.

Now that you’ve shown your ignorance about the Armory I can’t wait to see you rollerblade by and fall on your face.

Oh, well, you must have been the portly one I waved at. I didn’t fall, but I did notice the lovely paint job on the doors and anchors.

Such a wonderful little piece of history.
