FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

City Council Candidate Peter Parente Receives Endorsement from VPAC

New Rochelle, New York – September 24, 2010 – Following his recent Republican Party nomination, Peter Parente, candidate for the City Council District 3 seat has been endorsed by the Veterans Political Action Committee of Westchester. Representing veteran’s interests, VPAC endorsed Peter Parente for his achievements and his unwavering commitment to supporting veteran’s affairs.

A Special Election is being held in the city on November 2nd 2010 to find a replacement for Councilman James Stowe who passed away unexpectedly on Aug 4th of this year. Parente, a successful business owner, United States Marine and veteran of Operation Desert Storm is known throughout the city for his active involvement in numerous community events.

Parente, a lifelong New Rochelle resident is probably best known for his leadership role in bringing about the return of the city’s Memorial Day Parade. A tribute to veterans, the parade attracts thousands of local people along with servicemen and women from all around the country each year, and is becoming the largest event held in the city. He has also taken the lead in the development and coordination of the 9/11 Memorial and Vigil in remembrance of the loss of life resulting from the September 11 attacks on our nation; all part of his long standing commitment to community involvement.

Running on a platform that would, among other things, call for realignment of the city’s development policies that currently place tax burdens on residents as a result of tax abatements and PILOT programs issued to developers; a platform that encourages and supports neighborhood involvement in decisions most affecting their community, addresses the flooding issues in District 3, and supports expanded youth programs to deal with the many challenges faced by our youth. Parente has earned wide spread community respect for his inherent leadership and ability to reach out and bring people to the table regardless of party affiliations or backgrounds.

  1. Support rights for all !
The Colety GOP…Yes it rhymes, but that’s not the pattern. It seems GOP tradition is to recruit disgruntled democrats, who feel some sort of entitlement, to run against true Democrats. GOP Chairman Colety has already endorsed Ms. Cynthia Lobo for New Rochelle City Court Judge, after she spent 4months lobbying for the Democratic nod and failed to receive it. Yes, we have Lobo on the record supporting Obama issues but that’s not important here. Also equally important, but not material here, is the nasty racists tactics employed by Sen. Pedro Espada’s confidant, Richard St. Paul.
The kicker here is, the GOP is running a Nazi racist against Rep. Lowey! Listen GOP, no matter how much you disagree with Rep. Lowey, you should not support a NAZI, twice over.
My Family fought and died in the World Wars and in Nazi Germany !
Mr. Parente, care to comment on your running mate ?

    1. Vote Parente 11/2!
1st of all, Mr. Parente has no running mate and I’m sure he’s equally disgusted with Jim Russell as you and I are.

You mention Doug Colety, but he’s never won an election so his importance is minimial to the local GOP. I would also point out that Mr. Colety personally got Jim Russell off the ticket or is at least trying to.

I’m not overly enthusiastic with Cynthia Lobo as our choice to run for New Rochelle City Court Judge either, but someone had to run and lets face it how exactly will party affiliation make a differnce here? I somehow don’t think it’ll matter at all. Judge Sher (?) is a Republican, but I guess he’s retiring or just didn’t want to run.

Peter Parente is a qualified candidate running on the Republican line. He personally has nothing to do with who gets nominated to run for congress or city court judge. He seems to be very energetic and has done many, many positive things for New Rochelle already, such as organizing the Memorial Day Parade.

What’s also important to keep in mind is the balance of power on city council. The current council is split 4-3 in favor of the Demcrats. The same Democrats that have given Cappelli and Avalon tremenous tax breaks at the expense of the rest. The same Democratic council that favors demolishing the Armory. The same Democratic council that has supported and passed the Library Tax, the Garbage Tax and the Sales Tax (I feel like I’m missing 1 or 2 taxes but you get the point).

We’re being taxed out of this city and nobody’s doing anything about it so that’s why is important to vote for Peter Parente, we need balance and right now we’re not getting any from Bramson and his pals on the council. All I hear from Bramson and company is how we should spend money needlessly on things like the Hybrid Gargage Truck or putting worthless bike signs everywhere. Where’s the fiscal responsibity?

How about someone propose a ZERO tax rate increase for this year for the beleagured New Rochelle citizen? That’s what I’d really like to hear come from someone, anyone!

But its never going to come from Bramson or any Democrat and our best hope is to vote for Peter Parente come November and I hope you feel the same.
