Mamaroneck, NY – (October 22) Yesterday, New York Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo endorsed Suzi Oppenheimer for State Senate, citing her ability to break through the Albany gridlock and her continuing efforts to ensure that Westchester families, taxpayers, and schoolchildren get their fair share.
As the Chair of the Senate Education Committee, Oppenheimer led the fight this year to pass landmark education reforms that were instrumental in delivering $700 million in federal Race to the Top funds to schools in New York State. She has also fought for a permanent state-level solution to Westchester’s property tax crisis and has worked to balance environmental issues with opportunities for economic development and job creation.
“Senator Oppenheimer has established a stellar record of accomplishment as a true public servant,” stated Mr. Cuomo. “This year she played a key role in passing the Education Reform Law, which she sponsored and helped negotiate. Because of her proven ability to build coalitions and get results, I need Suzi as a partner in making government more effective. I enthusiastically endorse her re-election.”
Senator Oppenheimer stated, “New York needs the leadership that Andrew Cuomo will bring to address the serious challenges facing our state. His comprehensive plan for state government includes key reforms for which I have long advocated. He brings the skills to move this agenda forward and make state government work. I am pleased and excited to be his partner in making state government effective again.”
As Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s most committed and successful public advocates. To learn more about his campaign for New York Governor, visit www.andrewcuomo.com.

Suzi’s an embarassment to us all!
Is she doing anything about the states ecomony? I doubt it, she’s been in Alanby for 26 years and there’s little to show for it. She’s done nothing to promote NYS or to make NYS an attractive place to do business. And we need businesses to start hiring again, but why would they in this state? They probably wouldn’t, unless they could get their big tax breaks from IDAs.
That’s a pretty sad state of affairs when companies don’t to stay here let alone actually move to this state because our personal, real estate and business taxes are all too high. Companies are just as happy to move to North Carolina as NY because EVERYTHING is cheaper there. Wages, taxes and utilities all factor into the descision making and guess what? Nobody in their right mind would think of relocating to NYS and we need to change that.
NYS is the highest taxed state in the nation. Why? Because we have Senators like Suzi Oppenheimer who’ve supported each and every tax that’s come up for a vote. Did you know she was the deciding vote to pass the MTA payroll tax?
In these economically stressed times where we all know the state is facing another $8-$10 Billion shortfall, does Suzi propose ANY cuts to the state payrolls? Of course not, that’s not Suzi’s style. She wouldn’t want to offend anyone, especially her supporters in the civil service unions. What Suzi voted to cut was school aid and that only pushed up our New Rochelle school taxes.
Albany can’t tax us out of this mess, but their trying and so is Suzi and that’s why we’d be better off with Bob Cohen as our state Senator. He’s got his own business. Has created jobs. Knows what its like to have to come up with the money to make payroll. Knows the red tape that Albany puts small business through.
Or you could vote for Suzi the career politician who’s never created a job or run a small business. She really has NO experience, except working as a career politician! The choice couldn’t be clearer in this election so let’s retire Suzi Oppenheimer and say good-bye. We need fresh blood up in Albany and we have a great business man running for the position: BOB COHEN!
VOTE FOR BOB COHEN ON 11/2!
