This first .annual award sponsored by the Cottage in New Rochelle is given to a recipient who is a broadcast or print journalist, commentator or author who exemplifies, on a national level, in Paine’s own words,

Our three Community Award recipients are lead by Trinity St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Worship has taken place on this site since 1688 and this year marks their 322nd Anniversary. The parish comes from diverse racial, national, cultural, economic and religious backgrounds and they find unity in worship, social education and outreach, such as a soup kitchen that prepares more than 500 meals a week.
The next organization to be honored is Metro+Med, which has served the New Rochelle community for 26 years. Founded by Dr. John E. Jacoby, this practice brings primary healthcare and medicine to individuals, families and businesses of the community.
Finally we are honoring our President and Treasurer; Norman and Sydelle
Herzberg. Long-time residents of New Rochelle, the Herzbergs have been in the forefront of preserving the history of New Rochelle for future generations. They collectively have 53 years of service to the Huguenot & New Rochelle Historical Association and its predecessor, the Huguenot and Thomas Paine Association.
