On Sunday, October 10th, 2010, 40+ photographers fanned out throughout New Rochelle. The photographers went to the north, south, east and west in order to capture the faces and places, color and vibrancy of New Rochelle. An eventual book is in the works with proceeds to benefit charities selected by the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce.
A committee of six photographers judged the over 4,000 photos submitted for this event, including photos taken from an airplane and from boats. They whittled down the photos to 600+. Of these 200 were selected for the book and the other 300+ appear here in this online slide show.
Now we are captioning the photos and organizing them for the book.
I would like to thank all the photographers who participated. A special Thank You goes out to the selection committee — Jen Parente, Cristina Cerone, Charlene Goldberg, Valerie Gomez, and Anna Piliero — for attending ten sessions of photo study. Valerie Gomez also serves as marketing director for the project. Thank you to my husband, John Hessel, of HK-studios, who put together the 101010nr.com website. This includes the tools for registering photographers, uploading and captioning the photos, and the slide show presentations.
Thank you to Dr. Robert Perler for flying members of our team over New Rochelle in his plane. Thank you to Robert Cox of Talk of the Sound for his continuing support. Thank you to New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, and Chamber president Cynthia Lobo.
