Illegal Fireworks Display at Davenport Area Beach Clubs Triggers Calls to NRPD

Written By: Robert Cox

Not to worry — those aren’t gun shots folks.

It’s just the usual round of illegal fireworks being set off at one of the beach clubs in the Davenport area. When we find out the details we will post them here.

A reader sent along this advertisement for a beach club event on New Year’s Eve.

Journal News/Metromix Advertistment: V.I.P.’s 2011 Extravaganza in New Rochelle

The V.I.P. Country Club will host a New Year’s Eve Extravaganza starting at 8 p.m. Tickets include entertainment by Top Notch Music all night. An elegant dinner buffet, open bar, champagne toast, an elaborate dessert table and continental breakfast are all included. Reservations are a must. Details: 600 Davenport Ave., New Rochelle, 914-235-1500. www.vipcountryclub.com

Perhaps a knowledgeable reader can explain the history behind this; there are laws against holding events where tickets are sold although the law is different for in-season and off-season events.

We are working on getting some video of the fireworks. If you have any photos or videos send them along.

I grew up on that neck,
Those clubs have been bending and breaking and buying the rules since 1960!!
