New Rochelle Public Library Closed Due to Lack of Heat in Main Building

Written By: Robert Cox

There is a sign on the door at the New Rochelle Public Library stating that the library is closed due to a lack of heat. Callers to the library get a message stating that the library is closed due to lack of heat in the main building.

UPDATE: Thomas Geoffino, Director of the New Rochelle Public Library tells Talk of the Sound “Our boilers stopped functioning sometime yesterday morning. Despite calls to our vendor (busy due to other emergencies) they were not able to visit till last evening. They did get the boiler functioning but apparently the building was still very cold this morning and not really acceptable for our patrons and staff to utilize. We are very hopeful that our building will be properly heated and open for business tomorrow.”

  1. White Elephant causes Library Tax to Increase AGAIN
Since a separate Library Tax was imposed on New Rochelle by the administration the taxpayers have had to foot the bill for a new boiler and the costs (over $100,000) to upgrade the bathrooms to make them ADA compliant. Get ready for another proposition on the library budget (tax) to bond for another new boiler. Can anyone say WHITE ELEPHANT?
