Mayor’s SotC Spiel Lacking in, umm … “Certain Particulars?”

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

Have finally gotten through the incumbent office-holder’s “Tissue of Tergiversation” masquerading as one more state-of-the-city address for New Rochelle.

To this observer, it seems like just more of the same airy chatter from the bloviator-in-chief. Who can argue with the need for development, comprehensive plans, bipartisanship, conservation, more snowplows/better parks/more storm drains/more parking/more bike lanes … have I left anything out? But how do you pay for all this “stuff” and where to start, and when to end? The “Boy Wonder” has had some six years of a compliant city council majority of bobble-headed confederates, six state-of-the-city addresses and, six budgets: with nothing of lasting consequence to show for it.

He may, however, have found the path to everlasting local electoral success. It is this narrow objective which seems to most concern the mayor. It is certainly the prime focus of his published writing and speechifying, which, incidentally, he works at most assiduously in part-time/full-time employment (precisely which it is, he has not been clear about) as an aide to Congresswoman Lowey; Exhibit A being the unadulterated pile of cliches and platitudes of which the speech was comprised.

Those who take seriously the sad state of New Rochelle’s economy and the collapse of infrastructure, for starters, await serious leadership. They will not be humored (or bought off) by the richly-orchestrated “testimony” by the usual suspects; teachers, PTA-niks and the local academic-equivalent of trophy-wives, “trophy-students!” in favor of increased environmental and business regulation at this week’s city council gala. Civic boosterism is no substitute for action on the genuine structural and fiscal threats to our local way of life. It’s that simple.

Mr. Mayor, when does the adult conversation about economizing New Rochelle’s system of municipal governance and adolescent education so that we may one day afford to start rebuilding our parks, public accommodations, bridges and streets begin?

Or are we doomed to playing the waiting game like other Empire State basket cases from Mount Vernon to Monticello until our next federal bailout check comes in?

  1. GreeNR bamboozle on New Rochelle residents and other follies
More light is being shown on the unwillingness of the New Rochelle government to operate not only in a logical and honest manner, but now we have to add treason to that list.

Making an agreement with a government outside the laws of this country IS TREASON. Benedict Arnold was shot by firing squad for what he did during the Revolutionary War.

Somehow, I don’t expect anyone to recognize this crime (even Benedict Arnold’s) as history as taught in schools is not deemed important and is, “only about dead people.” Those that don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat the same errors over and over.

The stupidity and ignorance exhibited by the 6-1 vote shows a complete disregard for the facts as they were supposed to be voted on. In a court of law, the written word of a contract is what counts, not hearsay.

The vote is also a repudiation of the reason why people have settled in New Rochelle – the ability to live in a one-family home with all the trappings that come with it. I’m sure if residents knew their homes could be confiscated by a ‘land grab’ that favors developers and an outside the USA group controlled by the UN, they never would have moved here.

Consider this, people pay top dollar to buy homes in suburbia and are willing to pay high property taxes as a price to pay NOT to live in a concrete canyon like Co-Op City or Manhattan. Afterwards, they find out they’re going to have the rug pulled out from under them because some greedy politicians want to turn over the land and ability to govern to a UN-based group. Every time a resident turns around, there are stories about money being squandered or put into someone’s pocket for personal benefit.

To the government of New Rochelle, shame on you. The French Huguenots escaped France to escape persecution centuries ago. Now, we find our city is persecuting its residents for simply owning a home on some land.

We are onto you, NR government! YOU WILL BE VOTED OUT IN THIS ELECTION YEAR!! We now know your true colors!!!
