Statement by the City School District of New Rochelle on the Unexpected Resignation of Jefferson School Assistant Principal

Written By: Robert Cox

Jefferson School Principal Kim Nieves made the following statement, via robo call, to all Jefferson parents:

As the Principal of Jefferson Elementary School, I regret to inform you that our Assistant Principal, Jose Martinez has resigned effective March 14, 2011 due to personal reasons. We appreciate the work that he has done and wish him the best in the future. The district office continues to support Jefferson Elementary School and will be working with me to eventually hire a replacement. If you have any concerns, please contact me. Thank you for your continued support.

  1. Miscues again by the School Leadership
In the Journal News today, Richard Organisciak is quoted as saying that he had notified the law enforcement community about Mr. Martinez’ disappearance (presumably out of concern for his well being) but now the community has a different impression (1) it seems that he was not telling the truth because our own community police are not confirming that he did anything of the sort (perhaps he did not request for assistance from the NRPD), and (2) his Public Information Officer is quoted as saying that he doesn’t know where Jose Martinez lives? Does the District have an HR dept? I would imagine that Ms. Pecunia has his home address. This kind of public statement is irresponsible. I am hoping a clarification on the NRED web site is in order or perhap a question and a an ANSWER at the next BOE mtg. If the JN is wrong, then clarify – silence can create the impression of lacking responsibility. (again – as the noose case from IYMS is a point of reference)
