GreenTeam? I think White Team is more appropriate.

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

I was walking down North Avenue Saturday night near Iona college and approached a green team taxi that was parked near the diner. The driver put the window down about an inch and said he was off duty. I walked south about 200 feet and saw the driver at the next light with 2 girls in the back. Was I just the victim of racial profiling? To give the benefit of the doubt I’ve done a little research. The company is owned by a White person, I’ve called the office a few times and all the people answering the phone sound white and It looks like all there drivers are white. I have nothing against white people or anyone else. But it does seem strange that every cab company in New Rochelle has a very diverse driver pool except green team. I don’t know much about the cab business but I think it would be very difficult to have an all white driver pool in this day and age unless that is what you were trying to have. I hope I’m wrong.

  1. greenteam
Let me assure you there is no racism going on at the greenteam cab corp. they have a very diverse group of drivers and you should look further into this before making accusations like that. Also we do not refuse any calls, but most of the other companies do. And they dont do this directly what they do is tell the people they dont want to pick up that the cab will take much longer then what is actually true. I also find it very curious that the person accusing people of racial profiling is saying all the dispatchers sound white(that isnt profiling is it?)

  2. sound white?
how does a person sound white? you racist piece of garbage. i wouldnt give you a ride either.

  3. No Way
Sorry to tell ya but the green team has black driver’s,spainish and mexican drivers, and when you say that all cab companys have a diverse driver pool i beg to differ, call union,vo,the dispatchers don’t speak english never mind the drivers.

    1. Glad to hear it
I’m glad to hear it. However, I haven’t seen it. I have talked to a lot of people and they have a hard time getting a taxi to come to city park or the main street apartments. But I hope you’re right. I used to use Deluxe but they went out of business so I started using Blue bird. I haven’t used union or vo but I guess you are right they are all latino. And I won’t blame one driver for a whole company, so thank you for your reply.

The problem at the locations you speak of is that some of the people over at these locations seem to call three or four companies at a time and who ever comes first they get into so they get a low priority as to when a cab is dispatched to there location. The other problem is the drivers when someone hails them down when there on a way to a call( which by the way is illegal in New Rochelle)and they don’t let the dispatcher know of the pick-up so now you have a cust. waiting for awhile while the dispatcher thinks you the driver got the call. More enforcement must be done by our taxi comm.OFFICER Lilian Sanchez to stop the cabs from taking calls by people hailing cabs and by keeping the cabs at taxi stands and not sitting outside of bars and cafes double park and honking there horns every time a person walks out.

      2. Union and United Taxi are out of control
I must agree with EYE on this point. Every time I get off the train I am “attacked” by Union and united taxi drivers. They stand at the top of the steps and harass people as they exit. When we had basically just deluxe and blue bird in town we never had this problem. I take Blue Bird because they show up when they say they are going to and they have a very diverse company. I think that is important for a city like New Rochelle. We live in a very diverse city and I think companies that serve the public and reflect that diversity warrant my support.
