As always, Talk of the Sound radio will take to the airwaves in the normal slot: 11 am on WVOX 1460AM & WVOX.com.

Today’s program will be a little bit different with co-host Matthew Pryce sitting in for Talk of the Sound managing Editor Bob Cox. With Anthony Galleta in tow, the Talk of the Sound program will continue it’s examination of any/all issues facing New Rochelle and run down the major stories of the week.

And here’s what’s on tap for New Rochelle in the upcoming days and as always it’s a bunch of amazingly varied stuff that is happening around the city this weekend.

Tonight at 10 at the Rocker Room (596 Main St) – local talent The Core brings an interesting blend of rock and pop to a double-piano bill in the vein of Billy Joel & Elton John. Prepare for some tasty original music and surprising cover choices. The Suicide Kings & Random Order are other acts on the bill. See you tonight!

First up: Enjoy a double treat at Bethesda Baptist Church on April 30th!

Tomorrow at 9, A ‘Soul’ Food Health Fair will be sponsored by The Health Ministry of Bethesda Baptist Church.

Iona College’s Heritage Festival kicks off tomorrow at 1 pm. Top-rated rock/funk and gospel bands will be performing as part of Spring Weekend.
Additionally, there is some great music later in the evening

At 7: Andrew Mancilla takes the stage at the Beanberry Café and Frozen Yogurt Bar

Live from the Christopher Murphy Auditorium, The Westchester Chamber Symphony will hold their concert season finale. 8 pm at Iona College

And

If you’re looking for something a little more rocked out, in typical fashion Dudley’s Parkview Restaurant plays host to local rockers “The Scrubs” – 9 pm.

Then on Sunday

NRHS Shelter Manager Dana Rocco will be holding a one hour workshop describing the New Rochelle Humane Society and discussing the benefits of fostering animals. 10:30 am at the New Rochelle Humane Society.

A New Rochelle mainstay, The College of New Rochelle is hosting its 39th Annual Strawberry Festival from 12 to 5 p.m. The festival will feature an afternoon of outdoor activities, including live music and entertainment, games, and of course, strawberry treats.

Celebrate the delights of spring in the Shakespeare Garden with a free family May Day. Bring a picnic lunch and join in dancing around the May Pole, enjoy a demonstration of the art of falconry, relax to the music of a strolling troubadour. All free or charge at Davenport park from 3 – 5 Sunday.
