The letter below was sent home to parents of children at Jefferson Elementary School. The district asked that we publish this letter to correct an inaccurate comment made on this site. Jordano is coming to New Rochelle under difficult circumstances, replacing alleged child molester Jose Martinez who abruptly resigned as Assistant Principal and was arrested by New Rochelle police two weeks later. Talk of the Sound was the first to report on Martinez’ resignation and arrest. Jordan has recent experience with crisis management have been the Principal at the Traphagen Elementary School in Mount Vernon when his student, Ayana Evans, a 9-year-old girl, was murdered by her father. Evans had previously been enrolled in the New Rochelle school system at Ward and Trinity.

On Monday, April 11, 2011, we will welcome our interim Assistant Principal, Joseph Jordano. Mr. Jordano will work with the Jefferson Community for the remainder of the school year. Mr. Jordano worked in the Mount Vernon school District for 38 years. He retired August 2010 from Traphagen Elementary School where he was the Principal for 21 years. He has a wealth of knowledge and will be an asset to our school community. If you would like to meet Mr. Jordano, on a daily basis he will be in the cafeteria from 7:30-8:00. If you cannot visit the cafeteria in the mornings, he will be outside during dismissal. If these times do not work for you and you would like to speak to him, please feel free to call him at 576-4430.

El Sr. Jordano trabajará con la Comunidad de Jefferson por lo que queda del año escolar. El Sr. Jordano trabajó en el Distrito Escolar de Mount Vernon por 38 años. El se retiró en Agosto del 2010 de la Escuela Elemental Traphagen donde fue Principal por 21 años. Él tiene una gran riqueza de conocimientos y será un gran bien para nuestra comunidad escolar. Si a usted le gustaría conocer al Sr. Jordano durante el día laboral, el estará en la cafetería de 7:30-8:00. Si usted no puede visitar la cafetería por las mañanas, el estará afuera de la escuela durante la hora de la salida.
