Sisyphus Alive and Well in New Rochelle: Workers Scrape Paint with Two Inch Blade From Mile Long Wrought-Iron Fence at Isaac Young Middle School

Driving by the Isaac E. Young Middle School the other day I noticed two men meticulously scraping paint on the wrought-iron fence which surrounds the campus. I was amazed to see that each man was using what appeared to be a 2 1/2 blade paint scraper.

Having done a fair share of this sort of work myself, I know that there are a wide range of power tools to remove paint. With the proper tools, prepping the fence to be painted is maybe two days work for two guys. Using a small scraper would turn the job into month long project. Maybe that’s the point. The question is…why?

  1. I notice one of those
I notice one of those painters happens to be Ricky Dibuono, its about time hes doing some work. In fact he should consider himself lucky he has a job with the Board of Ed because a few years back he got caught stealing and was busted down and demoted instead of being fired. If hes not happy with his job as a painter he should go back to selling Real Estate.

    1. You are not Roz- and you are not fooling anyone!!!!
First of all let me start off by asking: Who said Ricky DiBuono was not happy with his job? And for your information, he still does sell real estate.

As far as him being lucky he has a job, he paid his dues by being demoted and has proved himself as being a hard worker and loyal to his friends and co-workers. Why are you still pineing over what happened years ago?

As far as scraping the metal fence with a 2 1/2 inch blade, do you realize that the reason he was doing that was because it was an order from his supervisor, Mr. Paganico. It’s not something he wanted to be doing on a hot day of 100 degrees.

So, Roz, althought that is not who you really are, what I want is the readers to stay tuned to see when Mr.Paganico gets busted for stealing thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars worth of paint and material from the board of ed and is still at it.

Mr. Cox, you should be jumping on this because very soon it will be out in the open.

      1. and another thing
and another thing- as far as using a 2 1/2 inch blade- it had nothing to do with prolonging the amount of time it took to get the job done, it was a form of abuse and punishment to Mr. DiBuono and another painter they are enduring from the supervisor.

  2. Why not use a nickel?
Milton Friedman was once taken to see a massive government project somewhere in Asia. Thousands of workers were building a canal, using nothing but shovels. Friedman was puzzled. Why weren’t there any excavators or mechanized earth-moving equipment? A government official explained that using shovels created more jobs. Friedman’s response: “Then why not use spoons instead of shovels?”
