New Rochelle police have recovered a body in the water off Davenport Neck near Kensington Oval.

The body of a white adult male was discovered this morning on the rocks along the shore of Pine Island, near the Sans Souci Isle Beach Club this morning in New Rochelle, NY. A resident called in the report to police after spotting the body across the water from her house. The man is believed to have drowned.

Police had been looking for the man after neighbors said a woman was found in her car crying. When approached she said she was looking for her father who lived nearby and had gone missing setting off a search of the area. The body of the man was found a short while later. There were unconfirmed reports the man had been sick, possibly depressed.

New Rochelle police recovered the body with the Harbor Master boat instead of the police boat because the water was at dead low tide and the water in the area near the body was too shallow.

The body was taken to the New Rochelle Marina Police office by boat and then taken by the Westchester County Medical Center.
