Have You Been to the Mailbox? The Gloves Are Off: Noam and the Machine make it personal

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

NoamErupts1Have you seen the latest mailers to come from the NR Democratic Party? The one DESTROYING Richard St Paul and taking a swipe at a the Republican Candidates for City Council posing in a group photo with Mr. St Paul five months ago. Well, I have for they were mailed to my house.

Much of what was written could be true but let me tell you politics in New Ro has gotten nasty. A layer has been peeled back from this supposedly refined Democratic Party. I have my questions about the republican party in New Ro and I don’t take as much offense as to what was said as to the hypocrisy. Mr Mayor you state that you will govern with civility and respect, you demand it, but campaigning is a different ball game it seems. What is this Bogota, NJ?

The gloves are off and you as the defacto head of that party showed your true colors. This race is personal and not about the issues. Attack, bloody and then spit on the victim.

As for the other mailings I truly appreciate how you positioned yourself as a tax relief champion by hijacking Lou Tranguicci’s idea of asking the Avalon Group for money now instead of in 25 years. There were other “accomplishments” you have wrapped yourself in but this is the most glaring.

Lastly I received a mailing for Shari Rackman for city council that told me more about the mayor than the candidate. Ms Rackman I hope you did not pay for this mailing because per the norm you once again accomplished your goal of saying nothing other than the Mayor needs playmates. This is serious business and questions need to be asked about everything AND IF THE ANSWERS SUFFICE THAN SO BE IT, make it policy.

I do not have it in for the mayor for as long as he is in charge I hope he does do the best for New Ro but I am done with the Mr Nice Guy facade. Your back room brawling personality is out there in the form of a purple and white mailer addressed to my house. You can’t speak out of both sides of your mouth (unless you are a career politician looking to get elected)

  1. Democratic Mailers
These mailers have a postmark registered to Century Direct Printing in Long Island City. This is the printer that the democrats have used for years spending over $225,000 on mailers for various campaigns. This printing company was recommended by Jeremy Sherber, the democrats hired gun who is a New York City political consultant. The NR democrats have spent over $225,000 for Mr. Sherber to develop everything from the GreeNR logo to Barry Fertel’s & Mayor Bramson’s newsletter. The Hypocrisy is mind boggling in that these are the same NR democrats, led by Bramson, who tell us we should support local business. Think about that, almost $500,000 on political propaganda. We could save police, fire & sanitation jobs. There is a method to the dems madness though and I will be posting this weekend to give you the inside info.

  2. StPaul Flyer
Saw it for the first time this morning. It was completely unnecessary and obviously very personal. Whoever had the brainstorm to authorize this should be fired and whoever supported this should understand that, like so much that is going on today, it is mean spirited, malevolent, and actually quite stupid.

The unnecessary is easy enough to understand. Richard had close to no shot of winning. The voter registration numbers and the previous airing of his difficulties are well known. So why kick him when he is down? He deserves better and I believe the judicial process is where this belongs.

I do believe it to be “personal.” You just have to look at a few City Council tapes to realize that the open animosity that characterized every meeting contributed to a year of small accomplishment coupled with a lack of recognition and attention to what really represents the needs of this city during these difficult times. Yet, this type of action goes against the most basic precepts of decency; both from a spiritual and a moral standing. It is political bullying; worse, those who cast the stones at St Paul need to look deeply inside to see whether they are so without stain that they feel entitled to pile on. Essentially we are deaing with 6:1 odds.

Plus, the flyer is somewhat out of focus in terms of what the GOP powers decided to do about this situation. In a sentence, they agreed not to challenge his position on the line…. I believe the language was not to add (support) or take away (detract). Both parties seem to have come from the point of view that his presence on the ticket would affect local council member voting either in adversely impacting a race or adding to the tally of a race. This is likely incorrect logic and I think the GOP saw pretty quickly that a District Council Member vote would not be impacted by Richard’s situation. Districts likely will be more impacted by the competing candidates within a district.

I see no evidence down my way that the negativity of St Paul’s situation or the presence of Noam Bramson next to a candidate on a flye will have much of an effect. Perhaps I am wrong, but I have been talking to a lot of people, especially down below Main Street, and that is the case.

Now, what about stupid. If you read the posts on this topic you can pretty much see how most right thinking citizens act. St Paul should be allowed on the ballot; the voters are perfectly equipped to handle themselves. However the creation of this flyer is a stupid act period! It will upset people who don’t believe in bullying. It adds nothing to the Democrats chances but gives cause to be concerned about people simply feeling angry at the fact that an underdog was handled the way this was. It bears no label; no responsibility, no attribution. It almost suggests that the GOP could have produced the ad to distance themselves from St Paul to enhance the chances of their council slate. Of course that is not the case; it was done by the Democratic Party; by whom I don’t know.

What I do know is that it should be difficult for anyone involved to go to Church on Sunday or to Synagogue on Saturday with this under his or her belt. I feel Negrin’s disgust, I embrace McCafferty’s cry for civility. From my point of view, Enough is Enough!

As a citizen, one who really has lots of issues with Richard St Paul’s performance, I sincerely apologize for what he has been exposed to and wish him all the best in working through some serious personal issues. He is a gifted man and I think he will make his mark in the times ahead.

I am a supporter of Noam albeit one with some fundamental disagreements on core issues facing this City. If you are a frequent visitor to TOTS, you know my position.

I will vote for him Tuesday with less enthusiasm than I really would like to have. Politics has become a filthy business and if we don’t figure out how to come together as a community with shared interests and values, we might as well just strap on the gloves and beat the living hell out of each other. That at least has the morality of directness and focused action.

I believe in the potential of change in most people (I probably draw the line at the school district leadership).

My respects to each of you with the courage to state your thoughts and, as importance, a sense that you have had enough of this as well.

    Get well Bob.

    1. There are 2 mailers out there
      Warren,

in reading your post I have to ask did you see both mail pieces? The one that states “Republicans dont support st paul” is the tame one.

As Noam likes to say i do not see how these mailers were germane to the subject. It was a flat out punch to the face deserved or not based on the acrimonious relationship the 2 have. I would have liked to see him have the courage to say he approved these mailings. In the back room this guy does not mes around. Kill them with kindness in public and out of the public eye just kill em. What we he do if he was lucky enough to serve in congress but it was dominated by republicans. That would funny.

With my posts I guess I will not be getting any favors from city government for a long time.

      1. Re: Bruce’s Point on Two Flyers
No thank God, I haven’t. One is about all I can handle. As for favors, you’re probably right, but you certainly have built upon the respect I and others in the community have for your openness and honesty. Perhaps, base on the Trinity situation, there might be a future for open and candid dialogue. One teacher actually pointed out the damage being caused to her and her colleagues and just maybe if enough people get together with an agenda that supports open, honest, and critically thought through plans, agenda, etc.. we may get someplace in 2012,

Again, great to see your clear voice on this issue; someone who can unbundle an issue without saying he “fails to see” its importance.

      2. Noam Did
Bruce Noam told the journal news yesterday that his people did it and he knew of the mailers

      3. Here’s the Quote Journal News
The recently-released brochure — titled “Richard St. Paul should NEVER be mayor of New Rochelle — does not say who mailed it, but Bramson acknowledged Friday its source was his campaign.

  3. Noam and Nita
I would like for Noam to note on the record if he can tell us how often he does work for Nita while on City time; using City resources since he became Mayor? Can he truthfully say that he does not do work i.e., answer, write emails for and/or on behalf of Nita Lowey from the Office of the Mayor at 515 North Ave? Or better yet, wouldhe allow an email audit of his computer?

  4. RE: Disgusting e-mails and mailings.
I too was sent the disgusting, muddy mailings as well as a long, annoying e-mail attack on St Paul and other Republicans. I was also ‘accosted” by an e-mail supposedly written and sent by the current mayor’s wife which was a verbatim rehash of some of his many pointless, aimless, boring speeches. I deleted the e-mails and shredded the mailings which shall be recycled and used for packing holiday gifts. How Green is that? Anyhow, the point is this– using MUD slinging and one’s wife for political traction is really low. I agree with the previous posters and suggest that the voters of New Rochelle disregard the mud and vote for St Paul. Do not look at the polls, look beyond them.

  5. Time to Re-Tool the machine and the factory
If you have nothing good or constructive to say, don’t say it at all! Negative information or even conversation shows a lack of good judgment. Whether it comes from you or those that surround you it should not be used. It is a sign of weakness and a desperate man’s last attempt at winning a race or an argument.

If you put four lawyers in a room alone, what happens? Nothing as we have seen. Yes a bad, really bad lawyer joke.

It appears that Noam is going to be our mayor for four more years. Let’s see if he can truly manage a team as he has said he can. I once did and still may but I need some convincing and to see some changes. Get rid of some of the lawyers and vote for the other guy or gal in the district races. Why not put all of their diverse backgrounds to work for the city. We have Kathleen Gill the City Corporation Counsel, a City Manager and many other experienced assets on the city staff and all the different departments and areas. I am sure even some of the day to day citizens would be of help. New Rochelle has a lot of history and knowledge amongst its citizenry to rely on for council and advice. Let’s tap into those assets and listen to the people for a change. The way things look around here today we could use a psychologist, private investigator, some normal day to day business people, a mediator and a musician to calm things down when things get heated and ugly.

I have said this before but nothing is truer today. We see our government, many of the departments within that system and the school system also under its control in need of a replan. No more business as usual. It’s time to make some changes. We need team players to come in and break things down to the bare bone and start all over again. Our families, our lives, our homes and our taxes rely on it. Start from the basics. Do a review of all job descriptions, members of management and staff. Evaluate their skills and qualifications for the jobs. Make sure there is no duplication of services. Put policies and procedures in place where needed or enforce the ones we already have. Make sure we have the right players on the team. As a team that means working together. No Democrats or Republicans. We need to be New Rochelians.

The new candidates win or lose will need to step up. Be a part of the solution and not the problem. We have a chance to clean things up around here locally and nationally and can win this fight of our lives. Be a corner man not just a spectator looking for blood.

    Just Don’t Forget To Vote!

  6. The People’s vote is for St. Paul!
My neighbors also received the offensive mailing.

No matter what family and personal financial issues Mr. St. Paul may have, they pale in comparison to the in-your-face corruption New Rochelle citizens have witnessed under the current administration.

We know one thing for sure St. Paul’s pockets and campaign coffers are not lined with dollars from developers. St. Paul has faithfully served his constituents and will make a better mayor than the one we currently have in place.

Having spoken with many of my friends and neighbors before and after the ‘mailing’ the peoples vote will be for St. Paul. We hope those who have run this city into the ground will be replaced with effective leadership that will turn this city around.

Our votes will be for St. Paul on Election Day!

  7. Bramson is Impotent
Ineffectual as a leader, his innability to accomplish anything other than things any mayor is expected to do , has forced him to resort to mudslinging. He was taken to task for his immoral campaign pay to play money machine and the lack of any tangible results of his tenure as campaign money hoarder. Idoni got more done than little boy blue will ever do and it’s gnawing at him. He will need something of note in his CV if he ever will stand a chance of defeating Chelsea Clinton. So far he’s got nuttin’. Vote republican – for a change.

  8. Get the bulk mailing number from the mayors trash mailing
Let’s get the permit number and find out who exactly sent it. The cowardly trash campaign from the democrats is the true telling of the “at any cost” tactics of the party. True colors are revealed. All behind the scenes so thay can claim deniability. If the campaign was only about the issues, someone would have stopped it from going out as is. Rackman should be called “hackman”, because politically she is just a hack and mindless minion as again she proves to be incapable of an original thought(just review the debate). To quote the Mayor” don’t piss on my leg, while you shake my hand” Think about that next time he shakes YOUR hand. Pathetic. Go get them Bruce!

  9. I got one that attacks
I got one that attacks Richard St Paul and says the New Rochelle Republican leaders are withdrawing support from him but it doesn’t say who sent the mailer. I figured it was either the Mayor or City Democrats. That is one of the reasons I will be supporting Richard St Paul instead of our current mayor.
