Westchester Legislators Announce Location Change For December 6 Public Budget Hearing

White Plains, NY – The Westchester County Board of Legislators announced today that it is moving the location for the third and final public hearing on the County Executive’s proposed 2012 County Budget to the Little Theater in the Westchester County Center, 198 Central Avenue, White Plains, NY. The time scheduled for the public hearing remains the same, 7 PM.

The previous site for the public hearing of the proposed 2012 budget was the Chambers of the Westchester County Board of Legislators on the 8th Floor of the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains.

The two public hearings hosted by the BOL since the County Executive proposed his 2012 budget, in New Rochelle on November 23 and in Somers last night, both drew very large crowds, and it was feared that the BOL Chambers would prove to be too small a space to accommodate those wishing to attend the final hearing on Tuesday, December 6.

“Because of the hundreds and hundreds of Westchester County residents and business owners who have turned out already to communicate to the Board of Legislators their opinions on the County Executive’s budget, we wanted to make sure that this last public hearing would have room to spare and be as accessible as possible,” remarked BOL Chairman Ken Jenkins (D-Yonkers). “The Board’s open and transparent budget process encourages a ‘face-to-face’ interaction with the people of Westchester, and bringing the hearing to the County Center will ensure maximum participation.”

More than a hundred people spoke to the assembled BOL members at last night’s public hearing at Somers High School, with the last speaker finishing up just past 12:30 AM.
