BillEvans ALMSWilliam Evans, former Principal at Albert Leonard Middle School, will be appointed acting Assistant Principal at Ward Elementary School tomorrow night by the New Rochelle Board of Education. Evans retired last spring.

Evans will be paid $830 a day for no more than 36 days to cover for Ward AP Kimberly Peluso from January 3, 2012 until March 16, 2012. She will be out on parental leave.

If you are wondering at that figure, $830 x 36 = $29,880. New York State retirees can earn up to $30,000 a year and still receive their full pension in that year. The amount was determined to pay Evans that maximum amount allowed. On an annualized basis that comes out to be $830 x 52 x 5 = $215,800 which is significantly more than Evans earned in his final year working full-time for the district.
