I guess New Rochelle was out of the question and was never a option like we were promised when the Avalon was being built with IDA money.

Whole Foods has signed a lease to open a store at the former A&P market on Post Road in Port Chester.
The announcement came yesterday in the company’s quarterly earnings report. The store is planned for opening in late 2013, spokesman Michael Sinatra said today. Given the available site, which is just of Interstate 287, “Port Chester was just an obvious choice,” he said.
This would be the third Whole Foods store to open in Westchester, after White Plains and Yonkers.

I shop in the White Plains store and one weekend the people in that Whole Foods were actually asking customers for ideas about new locations. I ask them to think about coming to New Rochelle. They looked me straight in the eye and laughed. What does that say? I asked the Mayor why we did not have the chance to acquire Fairway and he said it is up to the landlords what goes into the properties. My question is what is BID doing to get businesses to come to New Rochelle. I have suggested a number of times to have the city contact Starbucks and ask them why they are not in the downtown area. They have done their homework and it is a no to New Rochelle. Why can’t we get a grocery store in the old A&P on Shore Rd.? That is a good location and plenty of citizens to shop for food.

I thought key food from mt Vernon was going in the old a&p? Why would anybody in their right mind open a store in new Rochelle?

Where was Idoni II on Key Food’s opening day? Shouldn’t he have been there, welcoming them to the filthy space that was A&P? Happy to have Key Food take business away from Met (soon to be Food Town), which has been gouging customers for the year since A&P left?
Happily, I didn’t see him there, or I wouldn’t have been able to go into the store, since I would have had to ask him JUST WHEN he was going to REVITALIZE downtown New Rochelle? Then I would have had to laugh hysterically and walk away, since I know he has to continue the legacy his hero Idoni I left him and the future he will leave the Idoni III clone he will ensure is voted in.
