Sifu Dusty Rhodes (Sifu in Martial Arts means Master Instructor), owner of Rhodes Kajukenbo & The Pit NY, was born and raised in New Rochelle. He is a former Marine and Gulf War Veteran. Sifu Dusty has been serving the community in New Rochelle since 1995. He saw the opportunity to raise money to help people who weren’t as fortunate who had kids that were dealing with cancer. In an effort to help eradicate pediatric cancer, he has joined forces with St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Last year we raised $4,264.00. Our slogan is “KICK CANCER GOODBYE” .This year our goal is $5,000 plus…”

Sifu Dusty hopes that everyone, kids and adults, training in Martial Arts will be inspired and that events like this can help change a child’s perspective on life in general. There is too much focus on just the physical part of Martial Arts; we aim to help students understand the mental aspect as well. We believe our students should have the right mindset about doing the right thing, helping the community.

  1. Fantastic Stuff
Wonderful postings from Jen and Martin. This is great and we need much more of this sort of thing in these parts.

Fully agree with martial arts training at all levels. It is all in the Sensei; most I trained with or knew over the years understood the spirital and physical benefits and, as Martin instructs us, skilled leaders can tailor something of beneit for all.

I am going to try to drop over and leave what I can. I can at least work out my wallet a little bit these days. Hope others do this as well

  2. Great point
Also, Sifu and his staff are fantastic instructors for adults. As a martial artist myself for 35 years, everyone should learn self-defense – no matter if you are 10 yrs old, 75, disable – it doesn’t matter. It provides confidence and self-awareness. Thanks again,

  3. Martin, I agree 100%
My son is 6, we enrolled him in Rhodes Kajukenbo this past September and the turn around in his attitude, coordination, skill, self control and mind set are unbelievable. He is learning so much and in a short period of time. There are some people that work with kids and have some success and then there are people like Sifu Dusty that work with children and have consistant continued success. I have a boy who tests every parameter he can possibly test. Trust me, he’s no different in class, but its how Dusty handles these kids that impresses me the most and what they get out of working under him. It is nothing shy of awesome. If your wondering what to do with your kids whether their a boy or a girl, enroll them in Rhodes Kajukenbo and you’ll have done one of the best things you can do for them besides being their parent.

  4. Kajukenbo is Excellent
Great piece and please support Sifu Rhodes. He is an outstanding martial artist and teacher. My boys were his students briefly and he instilled in them discipline and respect. Good Luck Sifu. Thanks,

    Martin Sanchez
