NEW ROCHELLE, NY (May 16, 2012) – Iona College announces two new appointments in the Advancement & External Affairs division. Kristen Mengold has been named vice president for Advancement & Alumni Relations effective May 17, and Gregory Teeter has been named associate vice president for Major & Planned Giving effective May 21.
Mengold previously served as the director of Development and Alumni Affairs at Quinnipiac University School of Law in Hamden, CT, where she managed a portfolio of over 200 major gift prospects and created a strategic giving and activities plan which led to an increase of 20 percent in philanthropic giving and seven percent in alumni participation. Mengold also managed the dean’s advisory committee and implemented annual events for cultivation and education of alumni and friends of the university.
Prior to joining Quinnipiac in 2007, Mengold spent a year as a consultant and four years as the director of Alumni Relations and Development at Boston College’s Carroll School of Management in Chestnut Hill, MA. Her experience in development and parent and alumni relations can also be attributed to her time spent at Columbia Business School, MIT Sloan School of Management, Worcester Academy and Harvard University, respectively.
Mengold holds an MBA from Boston College’s Graduate School of Management and a BS in speech communication from Syracuse University. She resides in Southbury, CT.
Teeter previously served as the director of Development and Gift Planning at Rice University in Houston, TX, where he strategically managed an extensive, nationwide portfolio of major planned gift prospects and assisted in coordinating donor solicitation strategies. Additionally, Teeter led a major gifts team, provided gift planning training sessions and marketed planned giving efforts.
Prior to joining Rice in 2006, Teeter spent 11 years at Texas Tech University and served in such capacities as the director of Planned Giving and Legal Counsel for Institutional Advancement and the director of Foundation Accountability and Legal Counsel. Before working in higher education, Teeter spent seven years as an associate attorney.
Teeter holds a BS in journalism from Texas Tech University and a JD from the University of Texas School of Law. He resides in New Rochelle, New York.

They will be invaluable as Iona College moves forward this summer with implementation of the recently approved “Comprehensive Internal Strategy,” said Paul J. Sutera, senior vice president for Advancement & External Affairs.

Nyre, president of Iona College.
In addition to the new appointments, Paul J. Sutera announced the reorganization plans for the College’s Advancement & External Affairs division to further strengthen his team’s efforts and energies in building a “Culture of Philanthropy” at Iona College.
The areas within this division include: Advancement & Presidential Events, Advancement Services, Alumni Relations, College Marketing & Communications (MarCom), Corporate, Foundation & Government Relations and Development. An integral part of this reorganization is the inclusion of Athletic Development to help the Advancement & External Affairs division become a high-performing external network.
